Connect supported FireWire equipment to a compatible Thunderbolt-equipped Mac with the Apple Thunderbolt to FireWire Adapter. It provides a practical way to keep compatible legacy peripherals connected to your workspace without replacing them solely because they use a different port.
Connect Legacy FireWire Equipment
Thunderbolt connection: Plugs into a compatible original-style Thunderbolt port, rather than directly into a USB-C port.
FireWire connection: Provides a FireWire 800 port for compatible peripherals and matching cables.
Peripheral connectivity: Useful for supported FireWire storage, audio equipment, and other compatible devices.
Compact adapter: A convenient connection between your compatible Mac and existing FireWire setup.
Keep Your Existing Setup Connected
Whether you need to access an older external drive or reconnect a supported peripheral, this adapter bridges compatible Thunderbolt and FireWire equipment. Check your device’s cable, software, and operating-system requirements before connecting.
Compatibility
Requires a compatible Mac with an original-style Thunderbolt or Thunderbolt 2 port and supported system software. It does not plug directly into Thunderbolt 3, Thunderbolt 4, or USB-C ports. Peripheral compatibility also depends on available drivers and operating-system support. This is a peripheral adapter, not a laptop power charger or a USB-C charging cable.
